Asia Pacific seed industry pays tribute to Hardeep Grewal September 24, 2021

It is with great sadness to relay the passing of Hardeep Grewal. An active member of APSA’s Special Interest Group on Field Crops, Hardeep was the Head of Field Crops APAC at Syngenta Asia Pacific Pte. Ltd. and a member of the Syngenta Global Seeds Leadership Team, having joined the company in 2010.

Hardeep had over 30 years of agribusiness, seeds and biotech experience in global, regional and country roles across Asia, having worked closely with government stakeholders to ensure that small growers in Asia Pacific have access to leading agricultural technologies.

Hardeep earned a BSc (Hons) Agricultural Economics from the University of Wales, UK, and two Master’s degrees: one in Agricultural Extension and Development from the University of Reading, UK, and the other in Marketing from the University of Newcastle, Australia.

At Syngenta, he was responsible for developing and implementing Field Crops seed growth and biotechnology traits strategies for the APAC region in close collaboration with the global, regional and country leadership. He also ensured there was close collaboration between R&D, production and business teams across different APAC territories to meet the needs of grower customers and important stakeholders to ensure sustainable growth.

Further to this, he was an active member of APSA’s SIG Field Crops who was always keen to participate and contribute his valuable insights to the group’s initiatives and activities.

Hardeep is survived by his wife and three children.

The team has setup a ‘Memories’ page for Hardeep’s friends, family, and colleagues to share their personal memories and stories as a tribute to Hardeep.
