Learning Outcomes – A deeper understanding of the Indian seed industry, Hi-Rich Seeds’ advances in seed technology, and its efforts toward delivering improved yield outcomes for farmers.

What to Expect During the visit

Vegetable breeding is the process of developing new varieties of vegetables that have improved traits of economic importance, namely increased yield, disease and insect-pest resistance with improved nutritional content.

During the visit, we will walk participants through this process in sufficient detail and allow them to understand the entire R&D transformation process. The participants will visit the demonstration plots and see some of HRS varieties up close and gain a deeper understanding of the Indian Seed Industry and its future outlooks.

  1. Office and Visitor’s Centre – Provide an overview of the Company’s mission and vision
  2. Phyto Pathology Facilities - specialized labs that diagnose and study plant diseases, including fungal, bacterial, and viral pathogens. They enable disease-resistant breeding by providing controlled environments for pathogen screening, inoculation trials, and molecular disease diagnostics
  3. Speed Breeding Facilities - Speed breeding, when combined with modern crop breeding technologies such as genome editing, genomic selection, and high-throughput genotyping, is a powerful tool to accelerate crop improvement. By shortening breeding cycles and enhancing plant growth, it enables researchers to advance programs faster and deliver improved varieties in significantly less time.
  4. Molecular and Cell Biology Labs: Advanced facilities that analyze plant DNA, RNA, proteins, and cellular processes. They support marker-assisted selection, trait mapping, gene expression studies, and cellular assays to accelerate breeding and develop superior crop varieties.
  5. Field Visits – participants will have access to a specially designated demonstration plot where there will be various varieties on showcase of various crops
