APSA-WorldVeg Tomato Insect Resistance Project

A special project entitled “Advanced multi-disease resistant tomato lines as a key element for Integrated Pest Management (IPM) to control whitefly and tomato leaf miner” is launched under the APSA-WorldVeg Vegetable Breeding Consortium with the following three deliverables:

  1. Four advanced BC4F6 lines (1-gram seeds per line) with significant resistance to whitefly and the South American tomato pinworm and two SNP markers associated with whitefly resistance loci provided to each participating company at the beginning of the project.
  2. Protocols for measuring acylsugar levels and performing insect resistance tests under controlled conditions.
  3. Opportunity for member companies to select further advanced multi-disease & insect resistant lines at the Open Field Day at WorldVeg HQ Taiwan.

PROJECT DURATION:

  • 1 December 2024 –30 November 2026 (2 years)

PROJECT REGISTRATION PERIOD

  • 1 August – 31 October 2024

PROJECT FEE (USD)

  • Minimum of 10 companies at 13,500 USD per company
  • Maximum of 25 companies at 5,400 USD per company

AGREEMENT SIGNING & PAYMENT

  • 1 - 30 November 2024

Please note that only the active members of the 2024 APSA-WorldVeg Vegetable Breeding Consortium are eligible to participate in this project, and all project partners undertake to share the project cost equally. The actual budget per participating company will be calculated based on the final number of registered companies.
