Rapid Access to Successful Tomato Hybrids

WorldVeg Tomato Breeding has used 20 different parental materials including new inbred lines as well as previously demonstrated and released lines to produce F1 hybrids. A total of 19 best F1 hybrids combining multi-disease resistances with outstanding yield and fruit quality were developed.

A special project entitled “Rapid Access to Successful Tomato Hybrids” is launched under the APSA-WorldVeg Vegetable Breeding Consortium with the following objectives:

  1. To provide optimal parental combinations for tomato F1 hybrids.
  2. To introduce new genetic combinations for facilitating rapid progress in the development of F2 populations and the acquisition of new genetic traits.
Interested companies can get seeds of selected hybrids of their choice for testing at their locations, and obtain information and seeds of the parental lines of the selected hybrids. It is important to note that some of the hybrids share a parent, which means that the same line may have been used as a parent for more than one hybrid.
