USAID Agriculture Policy Workshop (Photos)

BANGKOK: The U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) Regional Development Mission for Asia in cooperation with the agency’s Bureau for Food Security on December 11 organized an Agriculture Policy workshop for a few dozen of its officers working in agriculture and food security projects throughout the world.

Held in Bangkok, the workshop featured a half-day visit to the APSA Secretariat, where participants gained insights into seed industry policy-making processes in the Asia-Pacific region. APSA Executive Director Dr Kanokwan Chodchoey presented on the association’s function and role in facilitating dialogue and cooperation between the private and public sectors with regard to seed sector development, covering policy development and regulatory aspects.

The session concluded with a  multi-disciplinary paneled discussion featuring Dr. Kanokwan along with Dr. Jira Suwanprasert (Director of Office of Agricultural Research and Development, Thailand Region 8), Dr. Siang Hee Tan (Executive Director of CropLife Asia_ and Mr. Vinit Atisook (Acting Expert on International Agricultural Economics Policy).
