Effect of organic, inorganic and bio-fertilizer with bulb size on the seed yield and quality attributes of onion (Allium cepa L.).

Onion (Allium cepa L.) belongs to the family Alliaceae is one of the most important spice as well as earliest vegetable crops of the world. The most important character of onion is its flavor which increase the taste of food and is widely used to increase taste of different types of food and other like gravies, soups, stew stuffing and meat (Rahim, 1992). The center of origin of the crops is western China and the deserts lying east of the Caspian Sea (Jones and Mann, 1963). The major onion producing countries of the world are China, Indi USA, Turkey, Japan, Spain Brazil, Poland and Egypt (FAO, 2006). The onion plant has a fan of hollow, bluish-green leaves and its bulb at the base of the plant begins to swell when a certain day-length is reached. The bulbs are composed of shortened, compressed, underground stems surrounded by fleshy modified scale (leaves) that envelop a central bud at the tip of the stem.
