Abstract

ePhyto & lab accreditation in Thailand: update and way forward

Electronic Phytosanitary Certificate System or e-Phyto System was initiated from the national development policy. The Department of Agriculture of Thailand is the national agency responsible for issuing Phytosanitary Certificate (PC) required for the specific exporting products to destination countries in order to prove health and phytosanitary conditions based on the Plant Quarantine Act B.E. 2507 and Amended Content. PC issuance is the service to support exporting enterprises for inspecting insect disease and pesticide to comply with specific regulations/requirements of trading countries and International Standard for Phytosanitary Measures No.12 (ISPM 12).

The design and development of DOA’s ePhyto System has been developed to facilitate exporting enterprises by reducing complex working steps, exchange required data in electronic format, and to increase traceability from destination countries to manufacturing farms. Exchanging ePhyto Certificate has been designed and developed for exchanging digitalized data with trading countries via National Single Window or NSW, under the operation of Thai Customs Department and National Telecom. Exchanging with ASEAN countries will be made via ASEAN Single Window (ASW) Gateway and with others will be made via ePhyto Hub.
