Dr Sarah Clark leads a team of risk managers who are responsible for setting New Zealand’s phytosanitary regulations for importation of plants for planting and seeds for sowing. She has worked for the New Zealand NPPO in plant health roles since 2010. Expertise includes assessment of pest risks associated with imported plants and seeds, and maintenance of New Zealand’s phytosanitary certification system including establishment and oversight of pest free places of production for New Zealand’s horticulture products. Dr Clark trained as a biochemist/molecular biologist, researching infection processes of phytopathogenic fungi.
