Seed Trade, Marketing Session to Explore Thailand Business Opportunities

BANGKOK: Recognizing the growing importance of Thailand as a seed industry hub, the first of seven technical sessions at the Asian Seed Congress 2017 will explore seed business opportunities and challenges in the kingdom. [caption id="attachment_4629" align="alignleft" width="196"] David Callachor[/caption] The lead presentation of the session, ‘Opportunities for Seed Industry in Thailand’, will be delivered by Mr. David Callachor, the Group Sales & Marketing Manager for South East Asia with Seed Asia Limagrain Group. Mr. Callachor has over 27 years of industry experience in the APAC region, as well as in South America. Mr. Callachor’s presentation will be followed by a ‘Round Table’ on ‘International Standard for Phytosanitary Measures 38 (ISPM 38): International Movement of Seeds. This important ISPM, approved recently by the International Plant Protection Convention (IPPC) is critical for the growth of the seed sector in the region and beyond. The Round Table will be convened and coordinated by Mr. Dennis Johnson, Seed Health Manager at International Seed Federation (ISF). [caption id="attachment_4630" align="alignright" width="300"] Dennis Johnson of ISF[/caption] Mr. Johnson will lead the discussions with the industry for developing the framework for the implementation of the seed-specific ISPM, with the cooperation of the phytosanitary regulatory authorities in the member countries in the Asia and Pacific region. The industry, in these discussions will be represented by key stakeholders including representatives from National Seed Associations (NSAs) and industry experts. The opening session, organized by APSA’s Standing Committee on Trade & Marketing, will commence 1-3pm on November 14 in the Sala Thai Balroom of the Marriott Marquee Queens Park in Bangkok. It is the first of seven technical sessions held in conjunction with the Asian Seed Congress – APSA’s flagship event.
