ASC 2023 Accompanying Person Tour

This year’s 2023 Asian Seed Congress Accompanying Person Tour will take you on an unforgettable full-day adventure, experiencing 3 of Christchurch’s must do activities; Riding the City Tram, Punting Along the Avon, and Soaring on the Gondola.

Participants will depart Te Pae Convention Centre for a short walk to Cathedral Square, where you will board one of the beautifully restored heritage trams to view the city’s history and sightseeing. Your driver will keep you updated about the latest city changes in their informative commentary.

Once your tram ride completes the city loop you will exit at the beautifully restored Christchurch Arts Centre for a short stroll to one of Christchurch’s oldest and most recognizable buildings – Antigua Boat Sheds.

Here you will board your handcrafted punt and enjoy an iconic Christchurch attraction. Relax on board an informative punt ride and see the city from a different perspective. Sink back and admire the picturesque Botanic Gardens taking you up close to the flora and wildlife as your classically attired punter poles you quietly along the river on this eco-friendly ride. A unique part of the city, the Avon River sustains a diverse plant and animal life and is a source of many recreational activities.

After your relaxing ride along the Avon River, you will board your ride to the Christchurch Gondola. You will enjoy panoramic views of the city, Lyttelton harbour, Southern Alps, sprawling Canterbury Plains and the sparkling waters of Pegasus Bay and the Pacific Ocean.

Your trip up the summit spanning 862 horizontal metres will take a short 10 minutes and at the top you can enjoy a break and lunch in a private dining room.

Following lunch and a visit to the gift shop you will travel to The Tannery – a boutique shopping emporium on the banks of the Heathcote River in Woolston. The old industrial precinct from the 19th century is now home to a retail complex boasting stunning architecture and art and home to a concentration of boutique shops, a hub of creativity and hospitality, retail, craft and entertainment.

You will then make your way back to the City with a short drive back to Te Pae Convention Centre arriving by 17:00 hrs.
