Once we depart Christchurch, you will travel north viewing the majestic scenery as you head towards North Canterbury across the Waimakariri River to a large irrigated dairy and pasture grazing farm, typical of Canterbury Plains. Meet the farming family and learn about New Zealand’s productive dairy industry.

Continue via attractive farmlands to the Waipara Valley wine region. Pinot noir and chardonnay grow well in the stony limestone terrain in the valley, as well as award-winning aromatics; zesty riesling and delicate pinot gris.

The Waipara Valley is cradled in the lee of the Teviotdale hills, which provides protection from the cool ocean winds but open to warm Nor’ Wester winds. The north facing, moderately sloping river terraces provide an ideal suntrap for grape ripening. Enjoy a seasonal lunch at one of the leading wineries.

Wine tasting optional extra NZ$15 per person
